About this workshop

Saturday, June 20, 10:00-16:00

Sew your first garment during this workshop. Do you already know how to thread the sewing machine, or have you already sewn a bag during the previous workshop and are you ready for your first garment? During this workshop, we will briefly review how to thread the sewing machine, draw a pattern for a kimono jacket or top to our own measurements, and then cut and stitch it together.

Sewing machines and basic materials are available, this is what you do need to bring:

  • pencil, pen, eraser
  • Fabric (non-stretch)*
  • Matching sewing machine thread

The choice of fabric is up to you; this can be a heavier fabric like denim for a sturdy jacket or a supple fabric like satin for a flowing kimono. In any case, choose a non-stretch fabric without stretch.
How much you need also depends on your design and size. As a rule of thumb: for small sizes, 1 times the length of the kimono (shoulder to hem) + 1 times the sleeve length + 0.5m to 1m extra just to be safe is sufficient. For large sizes, take twice the length of the kimono + 1 times the sleeve length + 0.5m to 1m extra just to be safe. (You can always email if you are unsure.)

The cost of this workshop is €76 for a 6-hour workshop. Bring your own packed lunch.

Minimum of 4 and maximum of 8 trainees.
