The Vocational Training Drawing and Painting – Art History is for anyone who wants to delve deeper into the history of art: this may be because you are an active artist yourself or from a purely theoretical interest. You will become acquainted with the most important styles and movements and learn to distinguish between them. Learning to look plays an important role in this. The program is based on the propaedeutic phase of the study of Art History at a university.
In addition to theoretical aspects of style, iconography and cultural-historical background, material-technical aspects are also discussed extensively. This will teach you to see how artists came to their works of art over time. Based on this information, you can also experiment with these techniques as an artist yourself.
The full course consists of 3 modules.
The program of the full course is as follows:
Module 1. (Sept. 23-Dec. 9, 2025) The Beginning: the Unstoppable Creativity to the Glory of Byzantium (Prehistory to Early Middle Ages)
Module 2 (December 16, 2025 – March 24, 2026) The Power of Light through the Oriental Dream (Middle Ages – Neo-Classicism and Romanticism)
Module 3 (March 31-June 23) Everything must be different to the present day (19th century to 21st century)
Class times are from 7:30 to 9:15 p.m. including a short break.
Tuition per block 235 euros.
When registering for the full course at once, the tuition fee is 655 euros (instead of 705 euros).
Students of the coursesin Professional Drawing and Painting – Classical Atelier and Evening Atelier receive a 25% discount on tuition if they take the Art History course in the same year. This can be done per module, so that the three modules can be spread over several course years. Per module this means a tuition fee of 176.25 euros. This discount applies per module and is not in addition to the discount offered to other students when registering for the full course at once. For the full course this means a tuition fee of (176.25×3=) 528.75 euros.
